Building a Business as a Single Entrepreneur: Life, Business, and Discovering Purpose
If you would have asked me 30 years ago where Iβd be today, I probably wouldβve said something like married, teaching music at a university, or maybe still in the Army. But single, living in Northwest Arkansas, and running a bookkeeping business? I wouldβve laughedβand probably asked, βWhatβs bookkeeping?β
Yet, here I am. And Iβm exactly where Iβm supposed to be.
Being a single entrepreneur isnβt always easy. There are definitely moments when you feel the weight of it all on your own shoulders. Thereβs no partner at home to talk shop with over dinner or remind you to step away from the laptop. But you know what? There are some real advantages, too.
Being single has given me the space to build this business with full focus and flexibility. Iβve been able to take risks, make fast decisions, and evolve DBR Bookkeeping into something Iβm proud ofβon my own terms. Thereβs a certain kind of clarity and independence that comes with this season of life, and Iβm learning to embrace it fully.
Iβm incredibly grateful for this journeyβevery twist, every restart, every late night spent dreaming, planning, or trying to figure it all out. And Iβm especially thankful for the amazing people Iβve met along the way. From networking groups to my online communities, to clients who have become friendsβyou have helped shape this path.
The biggest lesson Iβve learned?
Itβs okay to change paths. Itβs okay to step away from what you thought life was supposed to look like and create something brand new. Something that fits you now.
So if youβre feeling stuck or uncertain, know thisβyour next chapter might look nothing like your last oneβ¦ and thatβs the beauty of it.
